Elspeth was a particular friend with some rather particular traits: many come to mind. I started classes with Elspeth at St John’s in 1982 and was still with her in 2013. She had remarkable staying power and the Scottish genes came to the fore. Age Quod Agis

Elspeth was a lovely person who taught Sunday school at St John's Toorak for many years. I had the pleasure of working along side of her in this role. Thank you Elspeth for being that wonderful teacher of God to all those young students. I was very lucky to have known you.

Elspeth has left a heritage of Scottish Country Dancers in Melbourne. So many learned to love dancing through her meticulous teaching, and some have gone on to teach also. She was always so kind and gentle. What a legacy to leave. It was a privilege to call her a friend. Sympathy to all her family. Hilary.

Elspeth was my first teacher in 1990 and I enjoyed her classes until she retired. I always still do my best to dance the way she taught us then and I feel privileged to have known her.

Dear Aunt Elspeth. Thank you for your interest and support in my life and career, from my early childhood to today. Thank you for the adventurous and curious spirit you brought to your visits to our home, for helping me learn the piano, and for teaching me the value of good grammar and saving chocolate wrappers! You have touched my life, and so many others, in such a positive way. Vale Aunt Elspeth.

We got to know Elspeth over the past 2 years. We appreciated a woman of great dignity, good humour and a life brimming with fascinating stories. Her strong faith is missed by us and her faith community of the Anglican Parish of Southern Ranges. Love, prayers and sympathy to Alison, Tony and family at this time.

Elspeth Pyper was an institution at Malvern Memorial Kindergarten in Armadale, Victoria. She was appointed Directress in 1953 and held this position for 40 years, retiring in 1993. She was a truly dedicated teacher who was loved by our children and families. Our current families often share memories of their days at kindergarten with Miss Pyper. She will be sadly missed.

A great teacher and supporter of Scottish Country dancing in Melbourne for many years. Her dedication and skills will long be remembered by the St John's and the wider dancing community.
