I remember that he was struggling to get home with Molly after his stroke. I was going home and pulling up beside him. I never said a word except, please get in. I opened the car door. We joked about the car ..."at least it will get to your place", I remarked with a smile. He said that he would get in first and Molly would follow. That happened and my dog Cindy usually has a bark or two if others get in. Cindy, instead of barking at the visitors in the car, just sat slightly. She knew both Arthur and Molly. I drove him home and he kept saying that Molly needed a lift... I remarked that Molly is okay with me to get a lift and that it's a hot day. I pulled over and other people (family) were there to help him out etc.. I just said..."anytime, mate". The pleasure was all mine to do this he was a great friend.,

Carrie, my condolences. Arthur was a good person, and I enjoyed his company. I will not attend today because I'm not mentally ready; my little dog Ruby passed away a few days ago. I will be thinking of you and Monty. My regards, Chris Roche.

Arthur was the first friend we made on Drew St after building our house next door. We often walked together with Monty + our dog, Fergus and we saw Arthur most days. Arthur was never short of words and would chat for an hour or more if there was time. He would toss his hat to Monty as a way of buying more time to talk when Monty indicated he wanted to go inside for dinner. Arthur was funny, kind and cheeky and we miss him. We are thankful to have such lovely neighbours and to have also met Carrie. The street won’t be the same without him. Sending our love to Carrie and all the family. We will remember him fondly. Dear Uncle Arthur,
As a young girl, I remember how you had this amazing ability to make everyone laugh. On our many visits to Umhlanga Rocks, I recall how the laughter was always loudest when you were there. You united the family with your humour, warmth and love.
One of the things I admired about you was the beautiful bond you shared with Grandpa. You were a constant source of joy and shared a connection and love that ran deep. I will miss you dearly Uncle Arthur, I loved all the wonderful times that we had together. Saying goodbye was always the hardest part. You will be cherished forever. Sending lots of love and strength to Carrie and Krish and Monty and all the families xxx

Dearest Uncle Arth. I feel privileged to call you my Uncle. A man with a personality that brightened up every room he walked into and made everyone he met feel so special. Your stories were legendary, filled with humour, life lessons and a touch of magic that only you could impart. I will never forget my time living in Albany with you & Carrie. You welcomed me with open arms and my time spent painting houses with you was always filled with laughter and never once felt like work, just great times that I will never forget. We have so many great memories from holidays in South Africa to your wonderful visits in the UK.
May you Rest in Peace Arth.
Sending all of our love to Carrie, Krish and all of the family XXX

Arth was elder brother to Janet and Eileen - Big Bro as we came to call him. Technically he was our step brother, but none of us saw it that way.
Family was important to him and I think he was so proud to be a big brother to all us sisters. We were beyond blessed to have him as our brother.
He was always there for us, even when we were continents apart, a loving constant in our lives, funny, fun-loving, mischievous and ever the optimist. Seemingly born under a lucky star, we girls would plan, organise and prepare while Arth would sail through with things falling into place for him!
In time Big Bro became Uncle Arth to John and Kim and most recently Gruncle Arth to Elliana and Samuel, continuing to be a much loved part of our family.
There will forever be an Arth shaped hole in our hearts, but one we will endeavour to fill with all the cherished memories we made with our Big Bro. We love you Arth and always will. Janet, Eileen, David, Kim, John, Shenay, Elliana and Samuel.

I was saddened by the news that Arthur had died. So full of life he brought warmth and humour to every situation and connected with and included everyone he met. He loved his family and friends deeply and will live on in many hearts. My condolences to his family.

Our Arth - Brother to Sue and Brother (in-law) to Steve
You lived your life in 'Technicolour', always with a touch of magic! (Especially when it came to talking your way out of trouble!)
So many many memories of times together, such a highlight in all our lives, especially your many surprise visits to South Africa to see Mum and Dad, and our frequent trips to the Drakensburg mountains, a place you loved.
Your capacity to love, your positive outlook, and your epic sense of humour influenced all you met. You were a bridge over troubled waters for many!
Your capacity to talk was also well up there, and our long talks and chats will be missed so much.
The huge void your passing has left will never be filled. You will be forever in our hearts and forever missed.
Rest in peace Arth - we love you.
To our family, we wish we could be with you all - sharing our stories of Arth!
Our love goes to :-

During my trip to Perth from the UK in 2006, it was lovely to meet not only my sister Carolyn who I had not seen for some while, but also to meet Arthur for the very first time. Turning up in my hire car, I was greeted so warmly by Carrie and Arthur. I remember Arthur thrusting a beer into my hand from his fridge on the veranda, before settling in for an evening of getting to know one another. In the following years Carrie and Arthur visited the UK several times when I, my wife Charlotte, and our two young daughters, Sophie and Alice, really got to know Arthur. Arthur was warm, gregarious and fun. He was clearly very practical - particularly when it came to his skills as a chef and decorator. He passed on some very handy tips, including how to remove paint from carpet... Arthur – thank you for being part of our family. We will miss you. God Bless. Sending love to all the family. X

Dear Arthur, may you Rest in Peace.
When we learnt that Carolyn and you were to be married we were so pleased that each of you would be able to enjoy married life again. She brought you to Herefordshire in 2007, the first of many visits to us during our summers, and it was a pleasure to get to know you. Apart from Carolyn linking up with her own family members here, it was gratifying for us that you were able, on several occasions you were here, to re-connect with members of your own family in South Wales.
We will always remember our times with you both – particularly when we all sat in our garden for tea and then in the early evenings with glasses of wine, or beer, talking and laughing together.

A kind, fun loving guy. Will always remember this one who was a barrel of laughs, a passionate foodie, a doggie companion extraordinaire, a generous, kind spirit towards all of us. Plus being such a kind and devoted partner to my dear sis. With so much love from the UK. XXX
