What an amazing send off that was created. So many beautiful and wonderful words, tears of sadness, tears of laughter, tears of love have been shared, for such an inspirational soul. Heaven sure has gained one massive angel. Sending my love to you and your family.

Dear Hazel, It was through my 30 year friendship with Anita, that gave me the opportunity and privilege to get to know you. Right from the 'get-go' you were sooo welcoming to me and the time we did spend together was filled with (at times) intelligent conversations... lots of laughter, a wee bit of mischief and a heap of unconditional love.
It hurts so much you're gone, but I will never forget you.
"Death leaves heartaches that no one can heal,
but love leaves memories that no one can steal."
Much love and huge hugs to ALL of Hazel's family and friends in this difficult time.

Hazel made a wonderful difference to those struggling with mental/emotional health issues in Denmark and surrounds, especially with her art therapy sessions I remember so well! Her group classes were so deliciously creative, fun, respectful, loving, and interesting. She brought people from all walks of life together and created safe spaces to share. Her 1:1 sessions helped me so much. I would say it has been on my top 10 list of enjoyable activities because I got to paint and draw and then Hazel and I would unpack what came through the artwork, sometimes going deep and bringing profound insights. This led to facilitating my own creative journalling classes in our community later on, with some wonderful art therapy in the mix!
I'm so grateful for you and I will miss you Hazel, but I'm sure you will carry on in spirit as a true angel that you have always been. Sending divine love to Ruby and family, Jarrah and family, Jamsie and Jem. ️✨

Dear Hazel. I first got to know you by working alongside you at the soupy. Denmark was a different place then. I dont think there was any homelessness as homes were cheap and affordable for most. So you were helping people with different crises. All that was a mystery to me. All I knew were peoples personalities. Denmark was full of magic for me back then. And you were at the top of that list. You inspired me so much. With your dedication to service to others, the forests and art. (Did I miss anything?) Even way back then, you were a legend in your selflessness. It was wonderful to work with you. It was a great joy. You inspired all of us. Your vision for the soupy was masterful. You said there should be no demarkation between the volunteers and the people who enjoyed a cheap meal once a week. So many of the volunteers were also in need in some way and didnt feel shame whatsoever. (I think that also applies to the Homeless Project now. People can come and be in the space with others in need and just feel like a nice little comunity). Community was your passion. As it was back then, for so many people. And you were one of our most beloved elders. Thats the way and thats the time I will always remember you for. A leader, listener, hero, artist, matriarch, model of kindness and love for all, angel, healer, rebel, anarchist, pagan. And thanks to your total lack of ego or attachment to the work, there are people who are able to follow in your footsteps and keep your work going, in your honour. Yes we are sad but because of you and the person you wanted to be in this world, we will continue. And we thank you for your example. We are who we are, in no small part, because of you Hazel.

Hazel you were Denmark to me, you embraced me in your world, we laughed, loved, danced and walked together playing out at the farm, free from the world. You cared for me when I was ill, stayed close. You met my son, you truly were and always will be my family.
You will forweer be in my heart.
Sending love to Ruby and family, Jarrah and family, Jamsie and Jem.

I am so very sad that the world has lost Hazel. She was a truly selfless and loving person who did so much for others every day. Hazel always had a minute to chat to anyone and put them at ease with a smile. Much love to Hazels family and friends at this difficult time.
