My Crazy Aunty Joan, Meeting my Aunty for the first time in Rocky Gully, those were the memories that I'd never forget ‍ Coming to Albany many years ago for the first time with Reece was unforgettable. That pretty much every school holidays we'd come back again cause of how loving and down to earth you and my Albany family made us feel. They learnt from the best, My Crazy Aunty. The one thing I always remember, that every Sunday the family would rotate having breakfast at their house, with everyone bringing something. Gwenda and Bert knew what I'd bring, garlic salt and butter butter. Aunty, you enjoyed life to the fullest and never let anyone or anything get in your way. You were always bubbly and if not, there was a good reason why. Aunty Joan you were a bloody crazy one in a million Aunty but you were, My Crazy Aunty. Will Miss You and Love You XO Love To All My Albany Family and Uncle Carl XO

It was a blessing to have you a part of my life Nan. We spent many times just sitting and chatting, there were also many laughs along the way too. Your strength and courage through life and what it threw at you was something very special. You were always firm but fair and always had some advice when ever I needed it. You will be sadly missed but I think I will always smile when I think of you. You have left a gift in my heart Nan. Lots of love and condolences to family and friends attending my beautiful Grandmothers service today. Your Grandson Warrick.

RIP Aunty Joan, may you rest in peace free from pain, but your love and laughter remain with us. We will carry your memory in our hearts, in the stories we share, and in the kindness we extend to others—because that is what you taught us. Though we grieve, we also celebrate the incredible person you were. You may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. My deepest condolences to all the family at this sad time xoxo

In Loving Memory of Joan It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute to a woman who became so much more than a patient to me—Joan was a cherished friend, and, in many ways, a grandmother figure. We met during the time I cared for her and her Partner, Carl, and from the very first day, Joan touched my heart in a way that few people ever have. Joan was an extraordinary woman, full of life, laughter, and stories from her heritage that I will carry with me always. She was so proud of her culture, and she shared it with me generously, teaching me about traditions, history, and her experiences. One memory that will forever stay with me is when she told me about seeing a boab tree in bloom on one of her many journeys up north. She spoke of the moment with such reverence—how rare and special it was to witness such a sight, and how it connected her deeply to her roots. It wasn’t just a memory; it was a spiritual moment that she held close to her heart. Joan was the kind of person you only meet once in a lifetime. Her cheeky smile, which greeted me every Tuesday, always brightened my day. There was something so incredibly special about her—a warmth, a wisdom, and an undeniable spirit. I will never forget those moments, and I will miss her deeply. Joan, I hope that wherever you are in spirit land, you are surrounded by an abundance of mangoes, your line never gets snagged, and that Missy, your loyal sidekick, is trotting beside you. You were, and always will be, one of the brightest lights in my life. I will love and miss you forever. - Abbs ("darl", "love", "bub", and my favourite— “ah, here's trouble”)
