An unforgettable character who left an indelible impression on my life! Full of infectious energy, charisma and philosophy, Ron mentored me into saltwater fly fishing and outback living, regimes that became lifelong passions of mine. We managed to catch up 4 or 5 times over the years after meeting up on a round Australia trip in 1973, his enthusiasm never seemed to wane. Many of my ilk remember him as the "father of Australian saltwater fly fishing", a true legend in all aspects of the word. Rest in Peace mate, love BarraDave.

I loved my first teaching post at Fitzroy Crossing. As time went on I realised the main reason for that was Ron. The way he ran the school and interacted with the community was amazing. Having then taught for another 40 years I’ve never met another Principal who could have done the job as well. Rest in peace Ron and commiserations to Marg and family.

Ron: one of life's great characters and longtime friend, neighbour in the 40s, teaching colleague and fishing partner in the 60s. I can't forget the trip to Bald Head with Ron and Bob Litster: no fish and never been so cold - fingers still swollen the next day! Teachers in the 60s couldn't afford 4wds and our vehicles were taking a battering, so we resorted to motorbikes to get to our favourite beaches. Plenty of wonderful memories to mull over. Glenys and I are so sorry for your loss, Margaret.

To Marg and family, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Ron Pearson, a man who was more than a teacher and principal, he was a mentor, a guide, and an inspiration. Mr. Pearson didn’t just teach; he uplifted, encouraged, and instilled confidence in every student who walked through his classroom doors. Learning with him was an adventure, whether leading songs at assemblies or reeling in the biggest trevally, he made sure every child believed in themselves. His way of rewarding students was truly special, taking them out on his boat or catamaran, sharing the wonders of the ocean, and teaching the joy of fishing. And what a fishing legend he was! His legacy extends beyond the school gates. He didn’t just teach one generation; he guided the next, offering the same unwavering support and dedication to parents and their children alike. The One Arm Point Community was fortunate to know his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering heart. Mr. Pearson was more than an educator, he was a cherished friend, a guiding force, and a role model whose impact will never fade. His influence will continue to ripple through the lives he touched, shaping futures and memories alike. I'll always be ever grateful for what you did for. Rest well, Mr. Pearson. You will always be remembered

I was blessed to have had Ron as my first Principal in Fitzroy in 1980. He shared a love of Family, Aboriginal people and a love of the land and taught me how to fish! A wonderful friend and mentor, I am forever thankful. To Marg and family thank you for sharing the life of an amazing man with so many of us. Love Ian and Andrea McCredden
