My Mum went to live at Bethel in 2009 and told me about this visitor who had arrived in her room for a chat. She also checked out some of Mum’s ornaments and noticed one looking a little shabby. The visitor returned the next day with art supplies and repainted the ornament and then off she went. Mum had no idea who the kind visitor was but I discovered it was Mary. It took quite a while before I connected Mary to my friend Janet. ❤️

I have happy memories of going to the farm ‘Chocolate Hills’ after finishing work at the Beverley Co-op on a weekday when there was a Rural Youth meeting in town that night. It was lovely. Aunty Mary really fussed over me, and it meant I didn’t have to go all the way back home to the Dale and then back in again. Sometimes I even stayed the night after meetings. I remember the sleepout on the side of the house with the louvre windows.
They were good times.

To David Alison Gary Janet Michael and families - with lasting and very fond memories of Christmas day with you all at Chocolate Hills. The Dale mourns the loss of the last of the three Hutchies born near a century ago in simpler times. I am sorry that we cannot be there today to celebrate your Mum's life of care and giving as we both got smashed with Covid this last 48 hours. Jeanine and I are thinking of you all. I'll even say a little prayer for her at 11am today. Hope to catch up soon Peter.

My Tribute to Nanna
I remember waking up on Sunday mornings to the sound of Nanna already up, busy in the kitchen, getting the Sunday roast lunch on. The smell would drift through the house, and it always felt like love itself was cooking. Her roast dinners were the best – no one could match them. And it wasn’t just roasts; I remember her trifles at Christmas and those soft sponge cakes filled with jam and cream.
One of my favourite memories is of two ornaments on her dressing table – a little boy and a little girl. We called them Joanne and Daniel, as Daniel was my best friend at the time. As the years passed and I grew into an adult, Nanna gave me those ornaments of “Joanne and Daniel.” They still sit on my bedside table today, a gentle reminder of her love and of the little moments we shared.

Mary was a special person in my life, played a big part in leading me to know our lord and saviour, Jesus. It was her enthusiasm and faith that was undeniable and convincing. Mary and the other spiritual ladies in that bible study bought the seeking but not convinced person to belief in Christianity. You have now gone to your permemant home in heaven with our Lord. Rest in peace dear Mary. Love Sally

Auntie Mary
(In Loving Memory)
In fields where soft winds gently roam,
She made each place a faithful home.
From Beverley’s soil to Albany’s shore,
Her heart sowed love, and so much more.
A woman of grace, so deeply true,
Her guiding light still shines through you.
With Uncle Ron, her hand in his,
They built a life, a farm, and bliss.
But more than crops and country air,
She planted seeds through earnest prayer.
A servant strong, her voice so kind,
She brought lost hearts for Christ to find.
She led with peace, her faith was wide,
A gentle strength she could not hide.
Myself and Bev, we felt her care—
The love of God she helped us share.
Through trials, joys, and twilight years,
She walked in faith, not bound by fears.
Now in God’s arms, she takes her rest,
A soul so humble, richly blessed.
Her children—Alison, David too,
Garry, Janet, Michael true—
They carry forth her precious flame,
A legacy in Jesus’ name.
So let the wind in Albany sigh,
And let the clouds drift through the sky.
Though she is gone from earth today,
Her love and faith still light the way.
Ross and Bev xx

Beautiful Aunty Mary. She would always welcomed you with a big smile and hug. I loved her sense of humour and laugh. Such a lovely lady who will be greatly missed.

Mary & I became great friends living in Beverley. She told me a lot about the Lord Jesus before I became Christian. When I did commit myself to Jesus we shared all the wonderful things He was doing. We became close friends, so much so, that I adopted her as my WA mother. My real Mother lived in Adelaide where I lived before marrying a Beverley boy, Dave.
Dave & I spent holidays in Albany with them a few times which was really terrific.
Now I am back living in SA, have tried to see her a few times when travelling in WA but the last couple of times I tried, my holiday was cancelled due to COVID and the next time when I was cruising around Australia, & Albany was the port of call, it was cancelled as there were very high winds Geraldton & the ship was unable to depart as too dangerous, so the ‘powers the be’ cancelled Albany. Very disappointing as it would have been lovely to catch up with Mary , Janet & Michael & Gary.
All Mary ever wanted was to be with Jesus once she made Him her Lord & Saviour.
May God bless all her family, much Love, Kaye .
