We were shocked to find out that Koos had passed. He was friendly, genuine guy and very handy trials rider. He joined the Bon Accord Motorcycle club and made friends quickly. We also had the pleasure of riding the Scottish six days trial together as a team twice in 2008 & 2009. Our hearts go out to Debs, Holly, Edith & wee Koos from our family and all at the BAMCC.

Goodbye Koos. What a pleasure it was to have known you. Your smile and positive energy is what I remember most about you and also the love you had for your family. Always so proud of your children. You worked so hard to build a life for your family. Such an admirable man and also just so great to be around. You will be missed Koos. Rest in Peace.

Lieve familie.

Sending Deb, Holly, Koos, Edith and all the de Jonge/Brown family our deepest sympathy and love. Koos was an amazing man and he will be deeply missed and remembered with a smile as that was how we will remember him, smiling. Mark and I will treasure the memories we made with you while you lived in the UK, at your wedding, fun at the Steam Fair and later when we stayed with you in WA. Although it could be years between our time together, whenever in Koos company you’d feel like you only saw him yesterday. We’ll raise a schooner for him, and then a proper size drink after! Sending all our love and strength to you all at this devastating time xxx

Dear Koos, We probably spent every other weekend together for the first 12 years of our lives. You were only 2 weeks younger than me. The fun we had on the farm all those years ago helped make me who I am today. I can’t believe the last time I saw you was at your wedding. I’m shocked and deeply saddened by your passing. My heart is breaking for your family and everyone who loved you. You were, and always will be, a top bloke. Your funeral showed just how much you meant to so many people. Rest in peace. Love from Sara

I will always remember and cherish my time with Koos as a childhood friend riding trials bikes together. Deb, Holly, Koos and Edith, i send you all my love in this incredibly hard time. Having lost my own dad at 14, i know you will never forget yours and although it seems impossible, it will be ok to laugh and enjoy life again, koos will have wanted that and i am also sure he would want you to not let this hold you back, to live life to the full and to remember the good times and all the things he taught you. Work hard like your dad, make him proud, and you will achieve amazing things.

Koos always brought the biggest smile to the registration trailer at WAGE. He was constantly a ball of joy. So much love goes out to the De Jonge family from myself, Dan, Steve, the WAGE crew and the broader enduro community. I have set up the indoor trainer to ride while I watch the service, just the way Koos would have wanted.

What a legend of a bloke, went out of his way to ensure he assisted my father and I as much as he could during our time down in Barker. If we could all be 10% of Koos the world would be a far better and kinder place. Rest easy mate, thoughts go out to Deb and the kids.

I suppose I just wanted to say, I always admired him for following his dreams; it was Koos who inspired me to do the same. There are two types of people on this planet: those who talk about doing cool stuff but never actually do, and those who go out there and seize life with both hands—living it to the fullest and turning every challenge into an adventure. Or, as he so eloquently put it: "Stop being a butthead and just get on with it." I know that one day, somewhere in a different place, we’ll grab a beer and talk crap while watching the sunset from a big old water tank in a soft Hampshire field, just like old times. Until we meet again Brother. Your Friend, Dave
